Image Stitching

Year: 2017

Introduction

Image stitching is a process of combining multiple photographic images with overlapping fields of view to produce a segmented panorama or high-resolution image

Panorama results using Image Stitching Algorithm

Steps

Step1: Image Capture

Capture multiple images of a scene with overlapping regions from different angles or positions

Step2: Image Warping

The images are warped into cylindrical coordinates to adjust for the distortions

Step3: Feature Detection

After warping, we implemented an algorithm to identify distinct features in each image. These features include points, edges, or unique patterns that are crucial for alignment

Step4: Feature Matching

The identified features are matched between different images. This matching is critical for determining how the images align and overlap

Step5: Image Stitching

Combine multiple overlapping images into a single, seamless panoramic image by aligning and blending the individual images.
